The Harbour Town Marina and Yacht Basin is a legendary Hilton Head vacation hot-spot known by the famous candy-cane striped lighthouse. Vacationers have been heading to this Sea Pines destination for nearly 40 years and still today, Harbour Town continues to be the hallmark of a Hilton Head Island vacation.

harbour town hilton headThanks to the clear vision of one of Hilton Head's founding leaders, Charles Frazier, Harbour Town is based on his desire to create an "intimate harbour village with low-country ambience seasoned by the influence of the small distinctive ports along the coast of southern France and Italy.” His visionary efforts has created the marina, now filled with boutique shops, dining, water sports, boating, playgrounds, nature tours, art galleries, jewelry stores, souvenirs, live music and waterfront bars, which provides the backdrop for an ideal vacation destination.

The Harbour Town Lighthouse is one of the key attractions in Harbour Town. Built in 1970, this iconic 90-foot red-and-white striped tower is the visual centerpiece of the area. Climb to the top for marvelous views of the surrounding waters and learn about the history of Hilton Head along the way. The Lighthouse Museum's self-guided "Legends Tour" highlights the rich history of the island and talks about the inside story on the lighthouse's creation. See newly added Civil War-era artifacts as well as some ancient artifacts dating back as far as 5000 BC.

At the top of the lighthouse is the island's most elevated shopping experience: The Top of the Lighthouse Shop. Here you'll find a selection of handcrafted jewelry, keepsakes and lighthouse paraphernalia.
